Greyhound to offer Wi-Fi on bus routes
The introduction of Wi-Fi on airplanes has been a big development from 2008 into 2009, but Greyhound is looking to make an even bigger splash. The age-old bus company has announced free Wi-Fi service on bus routes. Not only that, but they’ve also included power outlets on its routes — plus additional legroom, which is always welcome. This is done in the model of BoltBus, a subsidiary of Greyhound, which acted as an experiment for the parent company. Apparently things went well enough to warrant a more widespread rollout.
The service is available right now on Greyhound’s busses running between New York and Montreal, and New York and Toronto. Fret not, though. The company plans to offer these services on its popular New York – Boston route by the end of the month. With some success on these routes, others could see the service before long.
Bus travel is quickly becoming a viable method for cost-conscious travelers. Adding power outlets and Wi-Fi make it even more palatable for working folks, especially those who can telecommute. Riders will essentially be able to set up virtual workstations during the bus ride, making it easier to travel while working and to fully enjoy days off.
