Overview:

Sierra Wireless is a company based in Canada that specializes in making wireless modems. AirCard is a registered trade mark of Sierra Wireless although you may hear the term used generically for any wireless modem.

The AirCard® 597E is Sierra's first ExpressCard for laptop computers and features a rugged design and reliability.

Format: The Sierra Wireless AirCard 597E will fit into any standard ExpressCard on your laptop.

Technology: Designed for broadband access on the third generation CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev A. network. The AirCard 597E is fully compatible with 1xEV-DO Rev 0, 1xRTT and IS-95 networks. It also features built-in GPS capabilities.



Frequencies: This is a dual band broadband wireless modem operating on CDMA 800/1900MHZ. It also works on 1575Mhz for GPS.

Rated Speeds: On the latest EV-DO Rev A. networks the 597E is capable of downlink speeds up to 3.1Mbps and uplink speeds upto 1.8Mbps. Please note actual network speeds will vary a lot.

Supported Laptop Operating Systems: The AirCard 597E will work with Windows® Vista, XP, &2000. It will also be supported by Mac OS X.

Antenna: The 597E has a fixed antenna with no moving parts.

Warranty: All Sierra Wireless AirCard products are backed by a 1 year limited warranty.

Additional Information: SMS messaging is supported by the AirCard 597E wireless modem. Sprint are currently carrying a branded version of the 597E.
