Format: The Compass 597 is designed to fit in any standard USB port on your laptop.
Technology: Sierra Wireless Compass 597 will work on third generation networks CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev A and is backward compatible with 1xEV-DO Rev 0, 1xRTT networks. The modem also as GPS functionality on board.

Frequencies: The 597 USB modem is a dual band device that operates on the following frequencies CDMA 800/1900MHZ. The Gobal GPS operates on 1575Mhz.
Rated Speeds: Maximum downlink speeds of the device are 3.1Mbps and uplink speeds can go upto 1.8Mbps. Depending on the speed of the network these speeds will vary a lot.
Supported Laptop Operating Systems: The Compass 597 mobile broadband modem will work with Windows 2000, XP and Vista and also with Mac OS X.
Antenna: The antenna is built into the Compass 597 USB modem but it one of the few USB device that allows connection of an external antenna.
Warranty: Sierra Wireless offers a standard one year equipment warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
Additional Information: The Compass 597 device supports SMS text messaging and also has a slot to add microSD memory cards. The Compass 597 is available as a Sprint branded version.
